Cyprus Summer 2009

Cyprus 2009........a foodie heaven.....A picnic in Cedar Forest with relatives from near and far..Peter & Valerie - the Welsh among us.... then our selves from the middle to be sure.....all there to visit with envy those who play in the sun - well a perfect BBQ of Souvalaki and I'm sure that there was more with every coleslaw, pickle & relish for our taste buds to explore - . A safe haven for the children to play in and for the adults to adore.....x

So......from the forest to the high seas......what a treat for us all. Now keeping on the foodie theme SUSHI ..the best of course. So the idea started on a lovely night out with my nanny at the Ocean Basket in Paphos. With a fabulous platter of sushi for us all to try. So this got us thinking ......can we do this ......well can Bob the Builder fix it .......of course he can. So on a beautiful Monday morning ....(another Cypriot bank holiday I think I recall) Mum and I set to it .......and within about 40 minutes we'ed prepared about 8 types of sushi - for the first time may I add - and anough food to feed 10......... not just the 5 of us actually sailing that day ..........sorry did I say sailing I meant speeding.......

Yorkshire Puddings. . . . . nearly Mummy

Well..as every mother knows.....cooking Sunday lunch with a 1 year old is not a task to be taken lightly......however give them the right equipment ...there own space in the kitchen ......and the right ingredients and the job is complete.....or is it a disaster ..you decide??????

So what could be done with this measly corn - too little to share but to special to have alone - a pizza topping it would become - with a home made doughy base topped with vegetables and herbs - so it became my inspiration for a pizza dream half vegetable supreme and half meaty feast and of course a great white wine, a sataurday night in.

It took a whole summer of hard graft in my garden - with time being of the essence but always to short - and with to much to do and to little time to do it - a beautiful but measly sweetcorn cob I finally produced - not bad for my 1st year as a vegetable gardener.
